Trekking Permits - Trekking Formalities
Nepal is famous for trekking and adventure holidays. Government of Nepal has special policies for regulation the trekking routes. So most of the popular trekking routes need permits for trek and other adventure.
Trekking permit is compulsory to trek in popular trekking destination in Nepal. All visitors are required to have a trekking permit to visit Nepal's interior regions not connected by major road. The main trials of Everest, Annapurna and the Langtang region (teahouse treks) require the payment of a national park permit and conservation area fee, rather than a special permit.
Trekking permits are available from the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or Pokhara. Here one can get information about rules and regulations concerning visas, trekking permits and permit fees. Two passports size photographs required with each application. If trekkers are trekking to more than one region, separate trekking permits are necessary for each region.
