Turkish Airlines started scheduled direct flights to Nepal on the 2nd of September 2013. It is the Europe’s Best Airline at the 2013 World Airline Awards. The Airbus A330 aircraft of the Istanbul-based carrier landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu at 7:15 am with 280 passengers on board. It left for Istanbul at 8:45 am. The airline will initially operate four flights a week in Istanbul-Kathmandu route. It will fly from Istanbul on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday arriving in Kathmandu at 7:15 am. And it will fly from Kathmandu on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday to Istanbul. The airline has established a direct link between Nepal and Europe. The Kathmandu-Istanbul flight will be 7 hours nonstop commercial flight. The introductory round trip fares of the flight start at 406 Euro including taxes and fees. The Air Service Agreement (ASA) between Nepal and Turkey was signed in September 2010. The agreement allows the designated carriers of two countries to operate 14 flights per week each in Kathmandu-Istanbul sector.
