With perfect weather, we depart the hotel early and head to Kathmandu's domestic airport. After a brief wait, we board the helicopter. As we lift off, stunning vistas of the Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Manaslu ranges come into view. Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and the west-facing Annapurna are clearly visible as we approach our destination.
Following the Budi Gandaki River, we quickly cross it and arrive at Jagat. Upon landing in an open field, your tour guide and crew assist you in exiting the helicopter and take a short break before heading to Philim.
The trail starts in the well-paved settlement of Jagat and leads us to the Sirdibas Valley, offering stunning views of Shringi Himal. We descend, cross a long suspension bridge, and climb a steep trail, eventually reaching the Gurung village of Philim.
Today's destination is the picturesque Deng Village. The trek offers two routes: one leading to Tsum Valley and the other to Larkya La Pass. We will be heading to Larkya La Pass.
We'll take the northern route to Ekle Bhatti, passing through charming villages and farms. As we descend, we'll travel through a gorge and grasslands, eventually reaching the Budhi Gandaki River. After crossing the river, we'll move to its east side and then take a bridge to the west bank, arriving at Nupri. The path then winds through bamboo groves until we reach Deng, a Gurung settlement where Buddhism is practiced.
After a delicious breakfast, we cross to the east bank of the Budhi Gandaki River and ascend to Rana. The trail then merges with Bhi village, winds through the forest, climbs steeply, and reaches Gho Village.
Following a substantial lunch at Gho Village, we can continue through gorges or take a detour through Prok Village to enjoy breathtaking views of Sringi and Ganesh Himal. As we proceed towards the Budhi Gandaki River, we will pass several gompas and Mani walls. The trail then enters forests of rhododendrons. After a steady trek, we will arrive at the charming village of Namrung.
After breakfast in Namrung, we head out and walk straight for 45 minutes, passing through buckwheat farms. Then, we embark on a 30-minute ascent to Lihi. From there, a two and a half hour climb up a steep hill brings us to Lho, where stunning views of the Manaslu and Himchuli mountain ranges await. After enjoying lunch in Lho, we continue our trek for about an hour and a half, eventually reaching Shyala.
Shortly after breakfast, you'll trek for 45 minutes before taking the left-directed path. The journey to Pung Gyen Gompa takes about two hours, involving both ascending and horizontal trails. While exploring this area, you can enjoy views of Himchuli, Manaslu, and Shyaula Peak. After exploring the Gompa, it will take another two hours of walking to reach Sama Gaon.
After finishing our meal, we descend to the Budhi Gandaki River, passing the iceberg-covered Birendra Tal beneath the Manaslu Glacier. This trail connects Sama and Samdo, taking us past several mani walls and yak farms. After moving through juniper forests, we cross the Budhi Gandaki River using a wooden bridge. We then ascend a steep trail to reach the white Kani village, known for yak herding. Finally, we arrive at the Samdo Settlement, where we'll spend the night in a guesthouse.
Our day begins with a journey through Samdo, following a wide path along the hill's edge. Crossing the Budhi Gandaki River Bridge, we ascend, passing the Larkya glacier, pathways, and small streams until we reach the Salka Hola valley.
Trekking onward, we encounter stone shelters and buildings in Dharmasala, also known as Larkya Phedi, offering breathtaking mountain vistas. This area is home to Himalayan Thar and Blue sheep, adding to its allure.Today's walk is relatively short, allowing ample time to rest and soak in the surroundings after reaching Dharmasala.
Today marks the toughest and longest day of the Manaslu circuit helicopter return trek, as we conquer one of Nepal’s highest and most adventurous passes. Following a hearty breakfast, we tackle the challenging trail leading to the valley behind Dharmasala, nestled on the north side of the Larkye Glacier moraine.
En route, we're treated to breathtaking vistas of Cho Danda and Larkya Mountain. Traversing glacier moraines and lakes, we press on toward our destination. The final, arduous ascent brings us to Larkya La pass, adorned with Buddhist prayer flags, offering panoramic views of peaks like Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kanguru, and Annapurna II.
After soaking in the majesty of Mt. Manaslu from various viewpoints, we descend over the moraine and along a rugged route, eventually arriving at the settlement of Bimthang.
After breakfast, we have time to explore the stunning Bhimtang Lake viewpoint and nearby areas before the helicopter's arrival. Surrounding spots offer breathtaking landscapes, adorned with vibrant prayer flags. The panorama showcases the majestic Manaslu range in the southeast. Upon the helicopter's arrival, we bid farewell to the Manaslu Region and board with precision. During the return, enjoy close-up views of Manaslu and Himalchuli peaks, along with Ganesh II and Langtang range.
