Here is some information about the trekking routes of Everest Base Camp trekking which may help you to choose the right on for your holidays. Direct Everest Base Camp Trek This route is very famous and most used trekking route for Everest base camp trekking. You will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and trek via Phakding to Namche. You will follow the route of Tengboche (3860m/12660ft) - Dingboche (4360m/14300ft) - Lobuche (4940m/16207ft) - Gorak Shep (5170m/16961ft) and finally Everest Base Camp (5300m/17400ft). You will trek to Kalapathar for panoramic views of Everest and other several peaks. This package follows the reverse route to return back. The total distance of trekking is about 72 km and it takes normally 14 days to complete the entire route. Jiri – Everest Base Camp Trek This route is followed by the early Everest Expedition team of Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgey Sherpa. The classical route to Everest Base Camp passes through the Sherpa village and yak gazing land. After driving from Kathmandu to Shivalaya, the trek follows the Bhandar (2220m/7220ft) - Sete (2575m/8450ft) - Junbesi (2670m/8760ft) - Nunthala (2220m/7280 ft) - Bupsa (2360m/7,740ft) - Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft) - Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,284ft) - Tengboche (3,870m/12,694ft) - Dingboche (4,360 m/14,300 ft) - Duglha (4,600 m/15,090 ft) - Lobuche (4940 m/16,207 ft) - Gorak Shep (5170 m/16,961ft) - Everest Base Camp (5364 m/17,594 ft) - Kala Patthar (5545 m/18,192 ft) - Pheriche (4280 m/14,070 ft) - Tengboche-Namche Bazzar – Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu. This route is little longer in comparison to the first one. It can be complete within 20 – 21 days. The main different are you will visit the different places of Everest region. Gokyo –Cho La Pass – Everest Base Camp Trek If you are looking for more challenging trek with different views, this route is suitable for you. You will visit the Gokyo valley cross the Chola Pass and reach the Everest Base Camp. If you have previous experience of trekking and physically fit with mentally prepare to cross the challenging passes of Everest, then you can join for this trekking route. The mountain views from Chola Pass will be superb and you will see the major mountain peaks of Everest region. Normally this trekking can be complete within 17- 18 days. Island Peak – Everest Base Camp Trek If you are looking other trekking route for Everest Base Camp, this is an alternate route for you. Climbing Island peak and trekking to Everest Base Camp is challenging trekking route in Everest. You can complete this trekking within 17-19 days. Mera Peak – Everest Base Camp Trek Another popular peak Mera climbing and trekking to Everest Base Camp also is the alternative route for Everest visitors. The route is more challenging and offers you the extra feeling of Everest and high Himalayas.
